TV ratings for bowl games in BCS era continue to fall.

But consider what has happened to the ratings of the BCS' three annual non-title games since the setup began with the bowls that followed the 1998 season. The average national rating for those three has dropped 12%, from 11.1 for the games after the 1998 season to 9.8 for this season's games.

Not coincidentally, perhaps, the average rating for ESPN's slate of pre-BCS bowl games has been dropping. It was 3.3 for 10 games after the 1999 season; it was 2.8 for 17 games this season. That's a 15% decline.

Congratulations to Utah, Auburn, and USC on their undefeated seasons.

There is no NCAA FB national championship, but someday, hopefully, there will be.
