The back-pedaling begins. BCS Chairman Mike Tranghese continues to spin and lie:

Ray Ratto of the SF Chronicle and ESPN.com puts the BCS joke in its place.
"So the Bowl Championship Series performed as expected -- inadequately -- and we are left with the surprisingly agreeable result of a split championship.

Congratulations to the USC Trojans and their fans on their AP #1 season.
USC is a great team that was robbed of a fully undisputed NC by this sham of a system. Not fair to them or any CFB player or fan.

USA Today's Op/Ed board takes up the anti-BCS cause.
"As the University of Southern California plays Michigan in the Rose Bowl on Thursday, big-time college football heads into a four-day, season-ending frenzy that could crown a new national champion.
Or not.
At least as likely is the possibility that upcoming bowl games will ignite another rhubarb about college football's stubborn refusal to play by the same rules that govern every other college sport."
